1862-65 are the inclusive dates for Samuel Baker’s expedition to 
Lake Albert (click for geospatial location). Baker was a big game hunter who met John Hanning Speke and James Grant during their journey down the Nile from Lake Victoria. Accompanied by his Hungarian mistress, Baker followed the Nile upstream to Lake Albert, which he claimed to be the co-source of the great river.
